When the only doctor at the clinic is taken ill, things become gravely serious. The nuns and midwives of Nonnatus House travel to South Africa to save a struggling mission hospital for closure, but there they encounter prejudice from the local authorities, and have to deal with an unhygienic water supply that is running dangerously low.
